O'BRIEN AND MOORE TAKE TOP TRAINER AND JOCKEY TITLESEgan in race to be fit for Royal Ascot
Posted in: Royal Ascot News
The jockey was taken to hospital after his mount Porta Rosa clipped heels with the Oisin Murphy-ridden Nightingale Valley in the final contest of the evening, a 7 furlong handicap at the all-weather venue, with Egan claiming that he was lucky to have escaped suffering a serious injury.
Egan's finest hour arguably came at the Royal meeting, when he steered the John Gosden-trained Les Arcs to victory in the 2006 renewal of the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes, one of three career successes at the highest level for the rider.
Egan has said that he will take two weeks off from riding, before talking to Dr Jerry Hill, chief medical adviser at the BHA, with the aim of being fit for in time for the start of Royal Ascot on June 20.
