Best Bets: Wednesday 4 December

We pick out the best bets at Belle Vue and Peterborough on Wednesday.
MARK THE REF (Trap 5) - 15.47 Belle Vue
MARK THE REF arrives on a losing run stretching back to August, largely on account of some moderate exits. However, Bev Heaton’s charge is now operating in a grade in which he can be ultra-competitive in, alongside a race lacking much in the way of depth, so anything like a clear run can see the son of Barefoot James emerge on top.
KNOCKBRAE ROSIE (Trap 3) - 17.06 Belle Vue
KNOCKBRAE ROSIE’s last victory was gained in A3 company, so to find Paul Webster’s charge in A5 less than two months on is somewhat surprising, and she is fancied to strike. Meeting with some severe crowding has far from aided his cause but a clear passage saw her to much better effect when second in this grade just three days ago and, with claims of turning handy at the very least, we’re hopeful of a very big run.
LUNAR PRINCE (Trap 2) - 20.08 Peterborough
LUNAR PRINCE is well and truly in the infancy of his career being an August 18’ whelp and, given his youth/inexperience, did extremely well to make a winning debut in A7 grade last month on the back of a very slow break. He’s a pup with an engine, boasting a good deal of potential for better still and, with the possibility of breaking slicker as he gains track craft, we’re more than hopeful the son of Droopys Vieri can be good enough to register success in this higher grade.
