TRADE FUDGE (Trap 6, 19.26) lacks the look of a recent run at Owlerton, yet the Central Park raider has already proven his effectiveness at this venue, impressing when landing a semi-final of the Steel City Cup back in March. Recent exploits at Henlow/Hove highlight he’s arriving in tremendous order and a slick break from the striped jacket can see him slip the field and book his place in round two.

Rocket John (Trap 5) - 19:42 at Sheffield

ROCKET JOHN (Trap 5, 19.42) has quickly made up in to a smart sort for Charlie Lynch, his latest effort over 500 metres a particularly impressive display. The drop back to 480 metres hardly rates a problem given the way he is breaking from the boxes and he can prove himself against this sterner opposition.

Lostrigg Barney (Trap 2) - 20:29 at Sheffield

LOSTRIGG BARNEY (Trap 2, 20.29) whilst still posting a respectable effort on the clock, essentially had little go right when fourth in a standard 500-metre contest last week and having previously been operating at the top of his game, is fancied to prove a different proposition this evening. Barrie Draper’s charge had been breaking with purpose and from what looks a good make-up in the blue jacket he could well prove difficult to catch if getting loose early, for all there are a host of staying types in opposition who will be closing in at the business end.
