Best Bets: Thursday 19 September

We pick out our three best bets from Sheffield and Newcastle on Thursday.
Sugar Ray Kate (Trap 2) - 16:27 Sheffield
Sugar Ray Kate (Trap 2, 16.27) hasn’t tasted success since May, yet to her credit she has knocked on the door on numerous occasions in higher grade and could be set to strike. Boasting a 100% record in the class of A7, John Walton’s bitch can be expected to turn handy at the very least on the rails and emerge on top in what rates a weak race.
King Sheeran (Trap 6) - 19:09 Newcastle
Over at Newcastle, for all his odds may be skinny King Sheeran (Trap 6, 19.09) could hardly have asked for a better make-up when he lines up in the second semi-final of the BGBF British Bred Northern Plate and he ought to capitalise. Impressive when coming from behind to score last time, he’s ideally housed outside a slow breaker and, with potential for crowding on the inside, he should have all the room to manoeuvre and book his place in next week’s final.
Raise The Stakes (Trap 1) - 19:42 Newcastle
It’s feasible to think King Lennon will come forward for his first look at Newcastle but it may pay to take a chance on Raise The Stakes (Trap 1, 19.42) based on what could prove a handy draw in red. A smart sort, he posted a slick 28.50 in a C&D trial at the start of the month and, despite early crowding, lost little caste in defeat behind King Turbo last time. Out-trapping Pond Adonis in trap 2 is a must, but expect him to be firmly in the shake-up if doing so.
