Tide Walker (Trap 6) - 16.04 Newcastle

There’s Open action all the way at Romford this evening, but the best bets appear to be elsewhere, with Tide Walker (T6) a very appealing proposition in the A7 contest at Newcastle at 16.04. On our first-bend sectionals, it’s highly likely Tide Walker will lead up, and as the sole wide seed she should get plenty of space to operate. She’s been a little expensive to follow in this grade of late and is susceptible to a strong runner, but this has the potential to get messy in behind and Tide Walker will hopefully build an unassailable lead.

Black Opal (Trap 4) - 19.26 Nottingham

Eleven metres separate the sextet in the Nottingham handicap at 19.26, and on the figures, Black Opal (T4) looks to hold a huge chance in receipt of six. As high as A4 class when trained at Hove, Black Opal has yet to taste success at Nottingham, but she should now be spot on post-season and is fancied to run down those ahead of her before hopefully holding off the late flourish of Skyline Storm.

Elite Star (Trap 5) - 20.27 Nottingham

Elite Star (T5) is still in the puppy stage of her career and she has made a solid start in recent weeks, recoding a brace of runner-up efforts over the standard 500m trip having been graded on in A5 Nottingham class. She’s displayed early pace on each occasion so the shorter run to the first bend in this B4 contest shouldn’t pose a problem and essentially there’s more upside to her profile than her exposed rivals in the 20.27 race.
