PLATINUM JUBILEE STAKES: NAVAL CROWN STARS IN GODOLPHIN ONE-TWOPosted in: Royal Ascot Tips
Mark Johnston has made an excellent start to the season with his juveniles, and EYE OF HEAVEN has been one of the most impressive of them. He made a winning start to his career at Newmarket when beating Get It by ¾ length.
The form of that race received a big boost when the third came out and won the Windsor Castle on Wednesday afternoon and Eye of Heaven should take plenty of beating in the Norfolk.
Art Power could be group class when the mud is flying, but I’m hoping that the straight course isn’t going to be too testing and will side with DANCIN INTHESTREET at much bigger odds in the 1.15. This filly has always been fast, and she’s fulfilling her potential as she comes back in trip.
There was a lot to like about her first start at 5f at Haydock earlier in the month, where she was messed about with several times when trying to put in a challenge, staying on for third while giving the impression she might have won granted a level playing field. A bigger field and wide open track will suit better here, and even though she is a little out of the weights, she looks to have a few pounds up her sleeve.
Others have definitely achieved more given the lack of strength to the novice she made her debut in, but I was very taken with the effort of MARIANCE at Lingfield and she shouldn’t be dismissed to the extent that she has been. It was a messy race that suited the prominent racers, and Mariance caught the eye making up plenty of ground in the closing stages.
She’d have given the winner a real race on a level playing field, so given that filly, Undertake, runs here and is around 10/1, Mariance looks worth backing to outrun her odds by some way.
