The first million-pound running of what was once the Cork & Orrery, and it attracted a massive field, even with 3 withdrawn due to the ground, runners from Australia, the US and Japan supplementing a large British and Irish team, a shame all the same that the King's Stand winner Nature Strip didn't get the chance to emulate Choisir and complete the double, his form on Tuesday some way in advance of that shown by the principals here, the race essentially 2 in one, with those drawn 16 and above having their own contest near the stand rail, the larger group racing in the centre, the first 2 on opposite sides, the next 3 coming up the middle, where the advantage lay hard to be adamant, even if the winner was the only one in the near side group in the first 13 home, though the next race, the Wokingham, gave the view of the riders in no uncertain terms, probably best to take the result just at face value for now.
