A representative field for the eighth running of this Group 1, the enhanced 3-y-o sprint programme one of the best innovations in the Pattern in recent times, the form a little short of what might usually be required, with fine margins between the best of these, hence nearly everything that ran in the trials turning up, the first 6 from the Carnarvon, first 4 from the Sandy Lane and all 4 from the Pavilion, as well as the winners of similar races in Ireland, France and the US, though for the third time the race went to one that was dropping back in trip after contesting a Guineas, Perfect Power finding some improvement for the drop back in trip, though not quite that that Muhaarar and Advertise found following a similar route, perhaps a concern that there were several at long odds that weren't very far behind, though the only one that might be questioned on the improvement shown would be Cadamosto, representing Aidan O'Brien, so he can have the benefit of the doubt; the field raced initially as 3 groups, 6, including the winner towards the far side, 5 on the stand side slightly detached from the main group in the centre, pace across the track, the field merging but still well spread by 2f out, any disadvantage felt only by those on the extreme near side, those drawn 17, 18 and 20.
