This had the feel of a lesser renewal than normal, even if Sangarius posted a high-class effort and, with any luck, Fox Chairman would have done the same and possibly even more, no multiple runners on show who'd taken part in British classics unlike in several recent runnings; the third and fourth came from towards the back but there was still an inkling it didn't pay to be too far off a gallop that lifted properly only on the home turn, only 3 of them ever having a stint in front as a couple of others met trouble in a field that was still bunched 2f out.
