Accidental Agent – Queen Anne Stakes, Tuesday, 14:30 Ascot
The lack of a standout star amongst the older generation in the miling division means we have a wide-open renewal of the Queen Anne Stakes, much like we did last year, when Accidental Agent caused a 33/1 shock in the meeting's curtain raiser. Admittedly, things didn't go to plan for him in two subsequent starts last season, but there was plenty to like about his effort to finish third behind Mustashry on reappearance in last month's Lockinge Stakes at Newbury. Although beaten three lengths on the day, he confirmed he's as good as his win in this last year suggested, and shaped as though this race would bring him on plenty. With that now under his belt, he looks far from a forlorn hope in his follow-up bid considering he wouldn't have to find too much to turn the tables on Mustashry - and as such there looks to be plenty of value in the 12/1 that's currently on offer for him to win this for the second year running.
Guildsman – Coventry Stakes, Tuesday, 15:05 Ascot
It isn't difficult to see why Arizona is the current favourite for Tuesday's Coventry Stakes, considering the style in which he won at the Curragh last time and the fact that he represents a yard which has won this race three times this decade, but at the prices, it could be worth taking him on with Guildsman. Archie Watson has had a teriffic time with his two-year-olds so far this season, and Guildsman has been the strongest of his string so far, creating a strong impression when scoring by six lengths on debut at Goodwood earlier this month. The form of that success is narrowly stronger on Timeform ratings than Arizona's effort at Curragh last time out, and although he isn't quite open to as much improvement as that particular rival, he knew his job well that day, and offers plenty of value at around the 10/1 mark at the time of writing.
Pretty Baby – Duke of Cambridge Stakes, Wednesday, 16:20 Ascot
Like the Queen Anne Stakes the day before, Wednesday's Duke of Cambridge Stakes looks wide-open, though it's very difficult to knock the claims of the William Haggas-trained Pretty Baby. A smart three-year-old last season, she made a pleasing return when winning a Group 3 contest after 9 months off at Lingfield last month, taking her record to an impressive 5 wins from 7 starts, and proving her effectiveness on soft ground to boot. She showed all of her battling qualities that day, something which will serve her well here, and considering she's still lightly-raced for her age, it would be no surprise should she take a step forward with that reappearance run now under her belt. Pretty Baby's current price of 6/1 looks a fair one, and she looks worth including in this lucky 15.
Invincible Army – Diamond Jubilee Stakes, Saturday, 16:20 Ascot
The final selection in this lucky 15 is the shortest of the four in the betting, though Invincible Army looks a very worthy favourite for Saturday's Diamond Jubilee Stakes. A disappointment in the Commonwealth Cup at this meeting last year, Invincible Army has returned an improved model as a four-year-old this term, building on his win in a listed contest on reappearance at Doncaster in March with an authoritative victory in last month's Duke of York Stakes. With the King's Stand-bound Blue Point very unlikely to attempt the double, the form of that Duke of York win is the strongest on offer, and Invincible Army's flop here last year isn't too much of a concern considering he had won the Pavillion Stakes over C&D prior to that. As such, he is a strong fancy to pick up a first Group 1 success.
