The top 5f races were rather uneventful and lacked competition behind Battaash in 2020 but this was entirely the opposite, no fewer than 7 of the 16 who lined up winners on their most recent outing, including fast-improving types likes Winter Power and King's Lynn, while the depth of competition was boosted by the American-trained Extravagant Kid, winner of the Grade 1 Al Quoz Sprint on his previous start, not to mention last year's July Cup winner Oxted, the last-named emerging on top with a degree of comfort in the end, suited by the fierce early gallop, Battaash and Winter Power both in front much sooner than ideal in the circumstances.
