Essentially a domestic affair for one of the premier sprints of the year, just one Irish challenger and a German-trained outsider taking on the home team, the withdrawal of Starman due to the ground removing one of the major contenders, a pair of 7-y-os fighting out the finish, the runner-up for the last 2 years prevailing over another Group 1 winner from last autumn, the form pretty straightforward to assess, particularly given the first 3 had finished first, second and fourth in the Sprint Cup last September, the winner rated as running up to his best, a level that makes him around an average winner of this race; the field split into 2 groups, the first 2 racing towards the centre, the third leading the group towards the stand side and the only one on that side to finish in the first 6.
