At a glance this was lower quality than usual in terms of the BHA marks involved though that’s easily put down to the unusual beginning to the 2020 Flat season, all of them having either their first or second start of the turf season proper and, despite the fact that there were no Irish-trained horses permitted to run, the line-up essentially looked as strong as ever, a shame then that it was a notably messy affair, lots racing keenly in the early stages off a stop-start gallop, the hold-up horses having little realistic chance of getting involved even if they were blessed with a clear run through, no shortage of hard-luck stories, the majority emerging with their potential fully intact.
