A strong renewal of this Group 1 contest on paper and one which lived up to its billing despite being run in foul conditions, the first 2 well established at the highest level, the winner better than ever in seeing off the strong challenge of the favourite, his performance the best in this race since at least Rewilding in 2011, a rematch between the first 2 in the King George likely to be something to savour, all the more so with the fifth sure to be much more competitive with a race under her belt; the pace, coupled with the conditions, was a sound enough one to ensure a proper test of stamina at the trip, though a handy position, as so often here, was probably an advantage as well.
