Eleven last-time-out winners, 7 of them unbeaten, and a good deal of potential on display, in a large field, even though it was slightly smaller than in recent years, all in all a representative Queen Mary; and then there came a performance that was almost off the scale, Lady Aurelia producing what is, on the face of it and taken very conservatively, as good a performance by a 2-y-o filly in Timeform's long experience, form well in advance of what the seemingly exceptional Queen Mary winner Acapulco achieved for the same stable last year, only Frankel and possibly Air Force Blue, in last year's Dewhurst, having run to a higher figure among the 2-y-o colts in the last 20 years; those left in her wake struggled to run anywhere near the form they'd shown previously, the effort of keeping up the strong gallop she set and maintained all too much, that perhaps, and only perhaps, exaggerating her superiority in the conditions, few in the field having raced on such a surface previously; the field raced as one group up the centre.
