A well-contested Hardwicke Stakes, attracting more runners than usual, several of whom have won or at least been competitive at the top level, and the winner produced a Group-1 standard performance, as good any recent winner of this race; the gallop was fair and it looks a solid result in general, the first 3 all making their efforts from different positions, but Dunaden has to be rated a closer-second after being hampered (there was no other significant trouble).
