This looked a strong renewal of the Gold Cup but it wasn't an entirely satisfactory race due to a steady gallop, the thorough staying element rather taken away as things only began to develop with less than 1m to run, all of them still with some chance entering the straight, and even at the finish they were in a relative heap; Fame And Glory's flop takes something away as well, though in fairness the first 3 are all very smart stayers in their own right, and they would have been more superior to the rest in a truly-run race.
