A race that revolved around Frankel, well clear on the ratings after Newmarket, though it was always going to be asking a lot for another effort of that magnitude, and as things panned out he wasn't seen to best effect despite getting the job done, the race hardly his jockey's finest hour; the gallop was strong from the outset, even with the pacemaker (Rerouted) left alone by the others as he was soon well clear, and in essence Frankel was asked for his effort too soon as his rider pushed the button mid-race, his burst taking him 6l clear 2f out but also leaving him vulnerable, approximate sectionals backing up the impression that he was slowing down after that point, and that Zoffany got closest having sat last for much of proceedings says plenty; the tactical complications also make the form tricky to assess, Frankel clearly nowhere near the level he got to at Newmarket, with the presence of 50/1-shot Neebras in fourth (and beaten only around 2¼ lengths) a particular sticking point, and the form overall looks slightly below par for the race at this stage.
