Long since open and penetrable at the top end, the sprinting division rarely sees big ratings, the exception being Black Caviar who may reportedly make it over next year (and was to some degree represented here by Star Witness), and as such this was about par-for-the-course for a Group 1 sprint in Europe, though it had an international feel with Star Witness one of 7 raiders from outside Britain and Ireland, the second, third, fourth and fifth all from various different countries, and yet it was the tried-and-tested Prohibit who emerged on top, which itself says something of the standard; inevitably it was a very fast pace, 2 groups to start with (eventually merged) and middle-to-low looking the spearhead, but the first 2 stormed through more towards the stand side, that pair benefiting from being saved up but plenty of others finding the intensity too much and never involved at all.
