One of the lowest-quality races at the Royal Meeting as a 0-95 handicap, but it lacked nothing for competition as it turned out, even if there were only a few progressive types, on the Flat at least, as a couple had shown improvement over hurdles, two of them involved in the tight finish, along with Bukit Tinggi and Missoula, the four separated by less than a length at the line; the next 9 home also seem to have given their running, but that owed much to a pace that was steadied after the field had established their positions, gradually winding up, but only really getting going as they turned for home, matters not the severe test of stamina that may have been expected; incidentally, this was the fifth time in the last seven runnings that the race has gone to a stable better known for its jumpers.
