A typically strong Wokingham in terms of competition, though few had shown much improvement since the weights came out and not many more looked ahead of their mark as things stood, while among them Indian Trail, Intrepid Jack and Peace Offering were all unable to do themselves justice as the race went; it was predictable after how the week had gone that all would come stand side, and though it didn't make for so much early trouble as it might with varying tactics used, some from high draws even getting to the front outright, it meant that there was limited room for manoeuvring as the race began in earnest, particularly among those held up, even with the gallop sound; the winner showed very smart form under a big weight as it paid off that his rider chanced things up the rail, while the second covered far more ground having been taken round virtually the whole field from stall 1.
