A good renewal of the Hardwicke, even with Shawanda's withdrawal on the day (found to be lame), the winner barely needing to reproduce the high-class form he's shown on occasions but pushed all the way by the one up-and-comer in a field of otherwise established pattern horses, of which all bar Bandari ran at least near their rating; what else contributed to the tight finish was the way the race was run, not altogether true with Bandari able to dictate, and several went freely, Hard Top overly so.
