A fine renewal of the meeting's centrepiece, notwithstanding the late defection of Vinnie Roe (combination of muscle problems and the going), the line-up including 2 previous winners, as well as challengers from Ireland, France and Japan; not unusually for the race, the field was still quite well bunched on the turn, Ingrandire having dictated things, and the first 3 did well to come clear late on.
