Even though, bar the eventual third, the field for the season's first 2-y-o pattern race were all winners, it's hard to escape the conclusion that this wasn't a strong renewal of the Coventry as a Group 2 contest for the first time; it's doubtful whether there is anything among the runners to rival the likes of recent winners Three Valleys, Landseer and Fasliyev, but, all the same, matters seemed truly run and there's probably no reason to doubt that the form is solid.
