The Hampton Court Stakes is a Group 3 Flat horse race, held at the Royal Ascot meeting every June. It is scheduled as the second race on day three of the five-day event, which is the Thursday.

It is run over a distance of 1m 2f (or 1 mile 1 furlong 212 yards, to be exact) and is open to three-year-old horses of both sexes, with level weights of 9 st for colts, and a 3 lb allowance for fillies, meaning they carry 8 st 11 lb. Horses that have won Group 1 or Group 2 races are ineligible.
The race has existed in several different guises over the years, and was originally run over 1m 4f. It was given Listed status in 1999, and cut back to its current distance a year later. Since the Royal Ascot meeting in 2002 – the first five-day meeting, to mark the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II – it has been known as the Hampton Court Stakes, after the Tudor royal palace, and the regal name has been retained ever since. Most recently, it was upgraded to a Grade 2 event in 2011, and was known until 2017 as the Tercentenary Stakes, to mark 300 years of Ascot Racecourse.
Several jockeys and trainers have managed three wins in the Hampton Court Stakes, but since the turn of the millennium one jockey and one trainer have managed four wins – most recently when teaming up in 2020. The trainer is Aidan O’Brien (2004, 2005, 2018, 2020) and the jockey is Ryan Moore (2009, 2014, 2018, 2020), the retained rider for Ballydoyle.
