O'BRIEN AND MOORE TAKE TOP TRAINER AND JOCKEY TITLESRunner-By-Runner Guide: Queen Anne Stakes
Posted in: Royal Ascot News
1 - ACCIDENTAL AGENT (7) Eve Johnson Houghton/Charles Bishop
Surprise winner of this in 2018. However, signs of decline last season and refused to race in this 12 months ago. Hard to make a case for.
Accidental Agent became Eve Johnson Houghton's first ever #RoyalAscot with victory in the Queen Anne Stakes on the opening day...

2 - BLESS HIM (2) David Simcock/Callum Shepherd
Best efforts have come here, winning the Britannia at this in 2017 and when beating Lord North in handicap on final start last season. Easy to forgive comeback run but taking big hike in class.
3 - CIRCUS MAXIMUS (4) Aidan O'Brien/Ryan Moore
Very smart 3-y-o last year once dropped in trip. Blinkered first time when winning St James’s Palace at this meeting and bit better still when narrow winner of Prix du Moulin at Longchamp. Big player.
Cracking finish at @paris_longchamp as the ultra-game CIRCUS MAXIMUS just fends off Romanised to land the (Group 1) Prix du Moulin for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore!

4 - DUKE OF HAZZARD (9) Paul & Oliver Cole/P.J. McDonald
Seemed exposed but showed smart form once fitted with blinkers last summer, completing hat-trick in Celebration Mile at Goodwood. Tongue strap back on and warrants respect.
Nice performance from Duke Of Hazzard (10/1), who responds well to pressure to land the (listed) Sir Henry Cecil Stakes for @whatcomberacing at @NewmarketRace! 🏇

5 - ESCOBAR (16) David O'Meara/Adam Kirby
Ended last season in top form, swooping from off the pace to win Balmoral Handicap over C&D on final start. Not seen to best effect at Newmarket on return but up against it here.
Jamie Spencer stalks Rise Hall aboard ESCOBAR (11/4), scoring with plenty to spare in the John Smith's Racing Handicap at @yorkracecourse!
It's another winner for @Timeform's TV Focus!

6 - FOX CHAIRMAN (13) Andrew Balding/Silvestre De Sousa
Had only 4 runs last season but was highly progressive. Not seen to best effect when runner-up in Hampton Court at this meeting before landing odds in listed race at Newbury. Remains with potential.
A Kingman 1-2 at #RoyalAscot as Sangarius leads home Fox Chairman. @skysportsAlexH, @LynchySSR and @freddytylicki reflect on the luckless runner-up in the blue and white colours of King Power... pic.twitter.com/EIi1Of9ZoC

7 - MARIE'S DIAMOND (15) Mark Johnston/Joe Fanning
Better than ever when 4¼-length winner of Newmarket listed race 11 days ago but was seen to maximum advantage in making all against the far rail. Easy to oppose at this level.
8 - MOHAATHER (14) Marcus Tregoning/Jim Crowley
Looked a classic contender after wins in Horris Hill and Greenham (both at Newbury) but had a setback after latter. Shaped well after 6 months off when fifth in QEII over C&D and still low mileage.
9 - MUSTASHRY (5) Sir Michael Stoute/Dane O'Neill
Better than ever in 2019, winning Lockinge at Newbury and Group 2 under a penalty at Newmarket. Entitled to go close on those efforts though no real excuse when only seventh in this last year.
A throwback to Mustashry recording a historic eighth Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes victory for Sir Michael Stoute.

10 - PLUMATIC (10) Francis-Head Graffard/Oisin Murphy
Very smart miler for Andre Fabre and won Group 2 Prix du Muguet at Saint-Cloud from 2 starts last year. Not disgraced when second in Group 3 at Chantilly on return/yard debut. Tongue strap applied.
11 - ROSEMAN (12) Roger Varian/Andrea Atzeni
Unraced at 2 but rapid progress in just 5 starts last year, catching the eye when fifth in Hampton Court at this meeting before easy winner of a listed race at Newmarket. Interesting contender.
Talented horse - Roseman (Kingman) is bred for the job and makes a big impression on his first start since Royal Ascot in Listed company for @varianstable at @NewmarketRace pic.twitter.com/ARt6BVvP2i

12 - SKARDU (6) William Haggas/James Doyle
Smart 3-y-o last year, winning Craven at Newmarket before third in 2000 Guineas. Best effort when fourth to Circus Maximus in St James’s Palace at this meeting. Bit more needed but not dismissed.
13 - SPACE TRAVELLER (1) Richard Fahey/Danny Tudhope
Smart performer who was 25/1 winner of Jersey Stakes at this meeting last year and also successful in Group 2 Boomerang Stakes at Leopardstown. Looks up against it here, though.
Absolute peach! Space Traveller wins the Jersey Stakes for @RichardFahey and Danny Tudhope… #RoyalAscot pic.twitter.com/o5KFf2ZjeF

14 - TURJOMAAN (3) Roger Varian/David Egan
Dual novice winner on AW and coped very well with step up to Group 3 level when ½-length second to Duke of Hazzard at Goodwood (1m) last summer. Should have more to offer but this is a tough ask.
15 - BILLESDON BROOK (11) Richard Hannon/Sean Levey
Caused a surprise in 1000 Guineas but won 3 times last year, notably Sun Chariot back at Newmarket. Creditable second under penalty in listed race at Kempton on recent return and frame claims.

16 - TEREBELLUM (8) John Gosden/Frankie Dettori
Smart, lightly-raced filly who won twice last year, notably a Group 2 at Deauville. Impressive winning return in Dahlia Stakes (10f) at Newmarket 10 days ago. Unraced at 1m but doesn't lack speed.
Terebellum justifies favouritism and bolts up to win under @FrankieDettori for John Gosden, a yard in excellent form, in the @Betfair Dahlia Fillies' Stakes. pic.twitter.com/ChjLjrAeZ2

Timeform Analyst's Verdict:
This looks a wide-open renewal with plenty to consider, headed by FOX CHAIRMAN, who was highly progressive in a light campaign as a 3-y-o and a strongly-run mile promises to suit. Terebellum is another fascinating contender dropped in trip having made an impressive winning return in the Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket, with last year's St James's Palace winner Circus Maximus also high on the shortlist.
