O'BRIEN AND MOORE TAKE TOP TRAINER AND JOCKEY TITLESRunner-By-Runner Guide: King's Stand Stakes
Posted in: Royal Ascot News
1 - BATTAASH (10) Charles Hills/Jim Crowley
Top-class sprinter who was at his imperious best in the Nunthorpe and also won a second Temple Stakes and third King George Stakes in a productive 2019. Runner-up in this in 2018 and 2019.
Wow! 🏇💨@Timeform's highest-rated horse in Europe BATTAASH absolutely blows them away in the @coolmorestud Nunthorpe Stakes at @yorkracecourse under @JimCrowley1978, setting a new course record in the process!

2 - EQUILATERAL (5) Charles Hills/James Doyle
Gelded prior to his reappearance at Meydan in January and produced a career-best effort to run out a 2-length winner of a 5f listed handicap. Has an up-and-down profile (seventh in this a year ago).
Woosh! Equilateral absolutely bolts up under @the_doyler for @cbhills at Meydan… #DWCCarnival pic.twitter.com/lnutzjXZP1

3 - HIT THE BID (2) Darren Bunyan/Oisin Murphy
Smart performer who has been a grand servant for connections. Without a win last season, however, and is likely to struggle in this company.
4 - ROCKET ACTION (8) Robert Cowell/Tom Queally
Progressive sprinter who won 3 of his last 4 starts on the AW, showing good attitude to just hold on at Wolverhampton in November. Plenty to find but yard has enjoyed success in this.
5 - SERGEI PROKOFIEV (3) Aidan O'Brien/Ryan Moore
Created a big impression when sweeping from last to first to win the listed Cornwallis Stakes on his penultimate start in 2018. Just the one success since and looked amiss at Naas on reappearance.
Sergei Prokofiev showcases his devestating turn of foot to land the (listed) Cork Stakes at Navan for Aidan and Donnacha O'Brien!

6 - TIS MARVELOUS (11) Clive Cox/Adam Kirby
Smart handicap form when runner-up in the Wokingham last year and went one better over this C&D a month later. Just fair efforts at best in listed company to end 2019.
7 - WELL DONE FOX (6) Richard Hannon/Silvestre De Sousa
Disappointed both starts last season but produced a much better effort on his return in the Palace House at Newmarket, finishing fourth and shaping better than the bare result. This asks a lot more.
8 - GLASS SLIPPERS (4) Kevin Ryan/Tom Eaves
Showed marked improvement in the second half of the campaign, landing a listed race at Deauville, a Group 3 and the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp. The danger to Battaash if in that mood.
One horse race! Unbeaten in France, Glass Slippers is an easy winner of the Prix de l'Abbaye for @tomeaveswigan and @kevinryanracing ⚡️ pic.twitter.com/uRXx0XTLtT

9 - KURIOUS (7) Henry Candy/Harry Bentley
Showed promise as a juvenile and took a step forward last season, winning a listed race and Group 3 at Sandown to enhance her good record at that track. Still lightly raced but she's pitched in deep.
10 - SHADES OF BLUE (1) Clive Cox/Liam Keniry
Impressive winning debut over C&D in 2018 and finished close-up third in the Queen Mary on her only other start that season. Hasn't done anything since to think she's a Group 1 filly. Blinkered.
11 - LIBERTY BEACH (9) John Quinn/Jason Hart
Enjoyed a productive 2-y-o campaign, winning 4 of her 6 starts (runner-up in the Lowther Stakes). Proved she has trained on when landing 6f listed race at Haydock last week and drop to 5f no issue.
Great to see her back - Liberty Beach has plenty of fans and makes a winning return as a three-year-old in Listed company for @johnquinnracing at @haydockraces

Timeform Analyst's Verdict:
BATTAASH has endured the odd blip on the way and definitely has unfinished business in this race having twice finished runner-up, but tackling this fresh may end up a blessing in disguise and he's different class to these on his day. Glass Slippers will give him something to think about if able to reprouduce her Prix de l’Abbaye-winning form, with Liberty Beach no forlorn place hope.
