O'BRIEN AND MOORE TAKE TOP TRAINER AND JOCKEY TITLESRoyal Ascot 2015: Friend and Solow among Queen Anne eight
Posted in: Royal Ascot News
Able Friend has won his last six outings at Sha Tin, scoring with plenty in hand on each occasion, while Solow has been victorious on nine of his last 10 starts, the only defeat coming when tried over nearly two miles!
They are joined by recent Lockinge Stakes 1-2 Night of Thunder and Toormore, who both represent the Richard Hannon stable, and another Group 1 winner in Andre Fabre’s French raider Esoterique. Aidan O’Brien saddles Cougar Mountain, while Here Comes When and Glory Awaits complete the top-class line-up.
There are two other Group 1 races on Tuesday’s fantastic card, and a field of 19 have been declared for the King’s Stand, while just six are set to go to post in the St James’s Palace Stakes.
The popular Sole Power will be bidding for a hat-trick in the King’s Stand having won the last two renewals, but he faces some promising up-and-coming sprinters, notably Muthmir, who progressed rapidly through the handicap ranks last term. The speedball Mecca’s Angel has also been declared following her phenomenally-impressive success in France last time.
Dual Guineas winner Gleneagles is the star name among the six St James’s Palace declarations. He has passed the post in front on all seven starts since losing out on debut, and he will be a short price to add another win to his haul. The main dangers are likely to come courtesy of French 2000 Guineas winner Make Believe and Sir Michael Stoute’s unexposed and unbeaten miler Consort.
