O'BRIEN AND MOORE TAKE TOP TRAINER AND JOCKEY TITLESHarry Angel warms up for Royal Ascot with win at York
Posted in: Royal Ascot News
Harry Angel did something he had never done before by making a winning reappearance at York on Wednesday, giving weight and a beating to a very smart pair that were already fit and in form.
He will hold obvious form claims in the Diamond Jubilee, but his record at Ascot is a slight concern, finishing runner-up there three times before only fourth in the Champions Sprint on his final start in 2017.
A comfortable success for Harry Angel who justifies favouritism on his first start for 207 days in the Duke Of York Stakes @yorkracecourse. #DanteFestival

However, his trainer Clive Cox stated: “People say he hasn’t won at Ascot but I think that’s just a fluke really, I don’t think there’s anything to read into it too much.”
Jockey Adam Kirby said: “I was really pleased with him. We knew he’d be a bit fresh and he showed his well-being for the first quarter, but when I pulled him out and stuck into him a bit he found top gear and finished off strong.
“I think he’s definitely improving, his mind has definitely improved.
“He’s nice and relaxed and doing everything a lot better now.”
Cox went on to say: “It will be Ascot next and then the July Cup. Lethal Force was second in this before winning at Ascot so hopefully he goes one better.
“People mention he’s never won at Ascot but I think they are reading too much into it. I’m not looking to run him over five furlongs. Why change a good thing?
“The Everest (in Australia) would be nice if we had a slot but that is not for me to decide and that is a long way off.”
Harry Angel is now a top-priced 3/1 favourite for the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot on the 23rd June.
