Smart Stat: £14.45 - Clive Cox's profit with horses running after a break since the start of the 2013 season
Now Children won two of his three starts as a juvenile when trained by Iain Jardine, and picked up where he left off after a 17 month absence when winning a handicap at Wolverhampton in February on his first start for Clive Cox. He was well backed that day and, though he was subject to strong riding in the finish, he got the job done and likely has more to offer for a good yard. Cox has made a great start to the season, too, and Now Children appeals as still being fairly treated following a 4 lb rise.
Smart Stat: 5 - John Gosden's number of winners in past 10 runnings
John Gosden has a remarkable record in this race, winning the last three renewals, and in the shape of Highgarden he holds strong claims of landing the four-timer. She looked a good prospect when making a winning debut at Newbury last season and, though she fell short at cramped odds on her return at Sandown last month, there was still more than enough to glean from that performance to make her of interest here. The switch to better ground should suit, and she is expected to show more of her worth here.
Smart Stat: 2 - Declan Carroll's number of winners in past 8 runnings
World Order made appeal on paper and produced a promising first effort when coming clear with a subsequent winner at Doncaster last month, carried right and only headed in the final 50 yards. The winner looks potentially smart and is set to take her chance in the Marygate at this meeting later in the week, so provided World Order improves as expected for that experience, she should prove a tough nut to crack.
