Smart Stat: 35% - Sam Twiston-Davies's strike rate on chase favourites since the start of the 2012/13 season
Band of Blood made a winning return to action after 22 months off at Exeter 10 days ago, in turn ending a long losing run, and handling the heavy conditions far better than most of his rivals. Given the length of time he was off the racecourse, there is a chance this could come too soon, but connections are right to turn him out under a 7 lb penalty and, if he is in anywhere near the same form, he will take plenty of beating here.
Smart Stat: £49.22 - Kim Bailey's profit with only one runner on the card (bumpers) since the start of the 2011/12 season
This looks likely to prove an informative bumper with plenty of top yards represented, though it could pay to side with one of the more experienced runners in the shape of Two For Gold. He made a winning start in this sphere at Southwell in December, and was far from disgraced in a listed event at Ascot last time, finishing seven and a half lengths behind one who sits prominently in the Champion Bumper market. Kim Bailey has a good record in this sphere, and Two For Gold will appreciate the slightly longer trip here.
Smart Stat: £35.97 - Simon Dow's profit when having one runner at a flat meeting since the start of the 2013 season
Native Fighter was a fair performer in Germany and has made an encouraging start for Simon Dow, not beaten far in both of his starts, and proving better than ever at Lingfield last time. He did well under the circumstances, too, held up taking a keen hold before making headway over a furlong out and keeping on well, only just denied. Native River is 2 lb higher in the weights now, but could yet have more to offer for new connections and is expected to go close.
