Thomas Patrick – Haydock 12:50
Smart Stat: £48.37 - Tom Lacey's profit when having only one runner on the card (hurdles) since the start of the 2012/13 season
Un Guet Apens looks well-treated back over hurdles after winning over fences at Carlisle last time, however that was his first win since April 2014. On the flip-side, the unexposed Thomas Patrick – Tom Lacey’s only runner on the card - has only had four runs, but he shoved markedly improved form when stepped up to 23f at Exeter last time. That win came on heavy ground and he could be hard to peg back once more under similar conditions. Worcester runner-up Pop Rockstar looks the pick of the rest.
Tikkinthebox – Ludlow 13:00
Smart Stat: £50.15 - Jeremy Scott's profit with only one runner on the card (chases) since the start of the 2012/13 season
On the face of it, there’s isn’t much to recommend recent Hereford faller Tikkinthebox, however this looks a very winnable race and he wouldn’t need to improve much on his fair hurdling form to get in the mix. His best two efforts in that sphere came on similar right-handed venues and this longer trip looks a good move judging by his second to Master Burbidge at Taunton last March. Polo The Mumm, Red Square Revival and Badilou look the ones to beat.
One For Harry – Haydock 15:30
Smart Stat: 21% - Nicky Richards's strike rate with hurdlers running between 2m2f and up to 2m6f since the start of the 2012/13 season
Quids In is of interest if staying this longer trip, especially given he acts well on testing ground, however One For Harry is a proven stayer and he is back down to his last winning mark. That victory came at Wetherby last January, and it’s worth noting that six of One For Harry’s seven runs have come between the months of November and January – this is his time of year. He hasn’t excelled in two previous starts at the track but those efforts came over the old fixed brush hurdles and better is expected today.
