Smart Stat: 2 - William Haggas's number of winners in past 10 runnings
Alvediston started joint-favourite for his debut at Newbury last month but was unable to land a blow, looking in need of the experience and leaving the impression he would come on for the run. Clearly, a much better performance was expected, and he is well worth another chance to build on that, especially as he is bred to be smart and represents a yard whose juveniles can often take a big step forward from their debut.
Smart Stat: 2 - Mark Johnston's number of winners in past 10 runnings
Five Stars is related to several winners and duly made a winning start to her career at Yarmouth last month, overcoming inexperience to readily beat rivals who had runs under their belt. She flashed her tail repeatedly throughout, which does give some reason to be wary, but she definitely possesses plenty of ability, and she is entitled to improve further now.
21% - Roger Varian's strike rate at YARMOUTH since the start of the 2017 season
Dusky Lord has proved a different proposition since undergoing a gelding operation, winning both of his starts so far this year, and doing especially well to defy a penalty at Newcastle last time when not suited by the drop back to a bare five furlongs. He showed a good attitude to dig deep under pressure, though, and an opening mark of 83 looks very workable, so he is taken to complete a hat-trick up in trip and back on turf.
