Navajo Pass - Haydock 14:20
Smart Stat: £36.75 - Donald McCain's profit to a £1 level stake when having one runner at a flat meeting
Swift Wing, Grenarier Guard and Gemoatrician have all shaped with promise, but Donald McCain has a good record when running just one horse at a Flat meeting. Though not normally associated with three-year-olds, McCain saddles Navajo Pass who ran a race full of promise on his sole outing last season, when third at Redcar. He’s bred to improve significantly for this longer trip (dam an 11f winner, half-sister to very smart winner up to 1¼m Jammaaland) and is worth chancing to upset the big guns.
Interrupted Dream - Yarmouth 14:30
Smart Stat: 2 - Mark Johnston's number of winners in past 4 runnings
Otago is respected after an eyecatching run at Leicester, but Mark Johnston has had plenty of success in this race, including with a newcomer, and a big effort is expected from Interrupted Dream on debut. He’s the first foal of Wokingham winner Interception and is bred to be quick enough for this test of speed.
Flying Moon - Kempton 19:20
Smart Stat: £43.00 - Jonathan Portman's profit to a £1 level stake with horses running in first time headgear
Flying Moon, who represents an in-form yard, is fitted with headgear for the first time, which has been a profitable avenue for Jonathan Portman-trained runners over the years. The well-bred three-year-old wasn’t seen to best effect in three starts last term, but ran his best race when stepped up to this sort of trip at Brighton, and there is scope for him to improve further now handicapping/stepping up further in distance.
