Smart Stat: £77.37 - Richard Fahey's profit to a £1 level stake with horses running in first-time headgear
G For Gabrial produced a string of respectable efforts last season and, having been gelded over the winter, wasn't disgraced when finishing in mid-division on his reappearance at Redcar this month. He still looks up against it from this mark, despite dropping further in the weights, but one potential factor in his favour is the application of cheekpieces for the first time. Trainer Richard Fahey has an excellent record when electing to fit headgear, and G For Gabrial, who took too long to get going last time, could be the type to benefit.
Smart Stat: 25% - Roger Varian's strike rate at Doncaster since the start of the 2016 season
Semser was strong in the betting on debut at Kempton, sent off the 2/1 favourite, and he duly shaped well, finishing runner-up to a promising rival who has since produced an even better effort in defeat. Semser is from a good family - his dam is closely related to St Leger winner Conduit - and he could be a different proposition with a run under his belt, the step up in trip also likely to be in his favour. Doncaster has been a happy hunting ground for trainer Roger Varian and he holds strong claims with the exciting Semser.
Smart Stat: £93.75 - Alan King's profit to a £1 level stake with horses running after a break
Kismat hasn't been seen since finishing fourth at at Windsor last August but the absence is unlikely to be an issue given in-form trainer Alan King's exceptional record with horses returning from a break. Kismat endured a disappointing season in 2019 but her mark fell as a consequence and she is interesting dropping in grade on her reappearance.
