Dreams of Thunder - 13:40 Nottingham
Smart Stat: £39.25 - Amy Murphy's profit to a £1 level stake with horses running after a break
Dreams of Thunder achieved a fair level of form in six starts as a two-year-old when trained by Robert Cowell, producing one of her better efforts when beaten less than nine lengths in the Lowther Stakes at York. She has joined Amy Murphy since the end of last season and this will be her handicap debut today after six months off. A BHA mark of 72 looks a good starting point to life in this sphere and Benoit de la Sayette, who is excellent value for his 7-lb claim, also takes over in the saddle. In a wide-open contest, Dreams of Thunder could be worth siding with to make a winning reappearance.
Yonafis - 15:20 Wolverhampton
Smart Stat: 29% - William Haggas' strike rate at Wolverhampton since the start of the 2018 season
Yonafis was unbeaten in two starts on the all-weather towards the end of last year, making a winning debut at Lingfield in November and then defying a penalty to follow up at Chelmsford in December. He was only workmanlike on the last occasion, but there was plenty to like about the way he responded to pressure to win by a length and a half from Mr Big Stuff (who received 6 lb). That is fairly useful form and Yonafis is unlikely to give up his unbeaten record without a fight now making the switch to handicaps. After all, he already has the look of a well-handicapped colt from a BHA mark of 88 and it's highly unlikely unlikely that we've seen the best of him yet for William Haggas, who has enjoyed plenty of success at Wolverhampton in recent years.
Sistine Madonna - 18:55 Killarney
Smart Stat: 2 - Joseph O'Brien's number of winners in past 9 runnings
Joseph O'Brien saddles two runners as he seeks his third success in this race since 2017. Onameridance is the type to take a big step forward on her handicap debut, but preference is for stablemate Sistine Madonna, who is another likely improver after filling the runner-up spot in a maiden at Dundalk last time. She was beaten just a length and a half on that occasion and looked unlucky not to finish closer still after conceding first run to the winner. She is clearly going the right way and it will be a surprise if she isn't up to winning a race of this nature from a mark of 73.
