Smart Stat: 39% - Noel Fehily's strike rate on chase favourites since the start of the 2011/12 season
Acting Lass made an impressive chasing debut at Market Rasen in November, justifying strong support and winning with a bit more in hand than the three and a half-length winning margin suggests (possibly idled a shade). That was his first foray into handicaps, and a subsequent 6 lb rise could well underestimate this fine chasing prospect; he seems sure to progress and win more races in this sphere.
Smart Stat: £52.09 - Michael Scudamore's profit with only one runner on the card (chases) since the start of the 2011/12 season
Michael Scudamore has a good record when having only one runner over fences at a meeting and Zayfire Aramis makes a fair bit of appeal in this wide-open handicap. He has been in better form than ever despite not yet winning this season, and was set to finish a good second to a well-handicapped winner before unseating his rider three from home at Wincanton last month. Zayfire Aramis had jumped better than usual up until that point, though, and he is well up to winning races from this mark.
Smart Stat: 41% - Aidan Coleman's strike rate on hurdling favourites since the start of the 2012/13 season
An open handicap, but Du Soleil appeals as being ahead of his mark and he'll hopefully get the chance to prove it this time having fallen early at Haydock. He made a winning reappearance in a novice hurdle at Uttoxeter in November and was well backed ahead of his handicap debut last time but fell at the third. Du Soleil is well worth another chance and, as the least exposed in this field, he holds leading claims.
