Halo des Obeaux - 14:48 Newton Abbot
Smart Stat: 21% - Harry Cobden's strike rate at Newton Abbot
Halo des Obeaux showed plenty of promise when third on his debut for Paul Nicholls at Worcester two weeks ago, emerging as the best horse at the weights under a penalty for his hurdling debut success when trained in France. This looks just an ordinary novice hurdle on paper and Halo des Obeaux has by far the strongest form credentials despite having to concede weight to each of his six rivals. He is very much the type to go on improving, too, so another bold bid is expected under Harry Cobden, who has ridden plenty of winners at Newton Abbot in recent seasons.
Never In Fourth - 17:00 Wolverhampton
Smart Stat: £52.38 - Roger Teal's profit to a £1 level stake when having one runner at a Flat meeting
Never In Fourth showed improved form after four months off when fifth over this course and distance last time, doing his best work at the finish to pass the post six and a half lengths behind the winner. He left the impression the penny is dropping and there is every chance he'll prove capable of better still now making the switch to nurseries, lining up here from a BHA mark of 63. It's also worth noting that he is a brother to Spirit of May, who progressed into a useful sprint handicapper for Roger Teal during his three-year-old campaign.
Haunted Dream - 18:30 Wolverhampton
Smart Stat: 23% - Oisin Murphy's strike rate at Wolverhampton
Haunted Dream produced a career best to get off the mark at Chelmsford last week, appearing to relish the longer trip as he stayed on strongly to win by four and three quarter lengths in impressive fashion. That was a fairly useful performance and he is potentially very well treated here under a 6 lb penalty, particularly when you factor in his scope for more improvement. With the booking of champion jockey Oisin Murphy also catching the eye, Haunted Dream rates a confident selection to follow up for the in-form Ed Dunlop yard (73% of horses running to form).
