Rogue Tide - 14:15 Kempton
Smart Stat: £49.50 - Simon Crisford's profit to a £1 level stake with debutants
An excellent level-stake profit with debutants shows that Simon Crisford's newcomers are always entitled to respect and he is represented by Rogue Tide. Rogue Tide was a relatively cheap purchase as a two-year-old but does make some appeal on paper as he is closley related to a winner, while his dam also managed to win and is a half-sister to a useful type.
Entangling – 15:25 Kempton
Smart Stat: £14.48 – David Elsworth’s profit to a £1 level stake when having only one runner at a Flat meeting
David Elsworth sends Entangling to Kempton on Sunday and looks to have a good chance of winning. Entangling overcame trouble in running to win at Lingfield in December and he has since posted two even better efforts in defeat, shaping as if better than the result on both occasions. The last twice he has been held up further back than ideal in races run at a modest tempo, but he has shown himself to be well handicapped and can bounce back to winning ways if getting a stronger gallop to chase.
Ballyadam - 17:05 Navan
Smart Stat: 4 - Gordon Elliott's number of winners in past seven runnings
Gordon Elliott sadddles two runners here, but there's little doubt that Ballyadam, who has been extremely well backed for the Champion Bumper ahead of his debut, is the number one candidate. Ballyadam is no bigger than 9/1, and as short as 6/1, for the Champion Bumper, despite having only run in one point. Admittedly, he was an impressive winner of that race and is clearly held in high regard, while his supporters can draw further confidence from the fact he is starting out in a race Elliott has dominated in recent years (the trainer has won the last three editions).
