Smart Stat: £32.65 - Tim Vaughan's profit to a £1 level stake with only one runner on the card (chases)
Dalamoi showed fair form over hurdles but he is a real chasing type on looks and he is bred for it, too - a half-brother to Don Poli and Debece - and he has quickly developed into a much better horse in this sphere. He could hardly have been more impressive when making a winning start at Kempton in November, looking potentially smart even though he was winning from a mere mark of 117. He failed to follow up from a revised mark next time and took a heavy fall at Chepstow last time, but he remains potentially well treated and is worth another chance to build on his taking chase debut.
Stay Away Fay - 14:40 Doncaster
Smart Stat: 23% - Paul Nicholls's strike rate in mid-season
Stay Away Fay cost £305,000 after winning his sole start in Irish points and made a good impression when following that with a debut win under Rules in a novice hurdle at Newbury in November. It is interesting that Paul Nicholls had won the previous two renewals of that race with Bravemansgame and Stage Star, and Stay Away Fay looked promising in his own right, rallying well in the closing stages to forge clear of a next-time-out winner. He left the impression that he would relish three miles on that occasion and he should have plenty more to offer now stepping up in grade.
Cool Lightning - 20:00 Kempton
Smart Stat: 19% - James Tate's strike rate with handicap debutants
Cool Lightning was beaten at prohibitive odds on her first two starts but she made it third time lucky when opening her account at Chelmsford three weeks ago, showing improved form in the process. That wasn't a deep race but she was awkward leaving the stalls and showed a determined attitude in the closing stages to hold off the runner-up. Cool Lightning is entitled to progress again now handicapping and an opening mark of 67 shouldn't be beyond her.
