Smart Stat: 27% - Paul Nicholls' strike rate at Taunton since the start of the 2016/17 season
Paul Nicholls operates at an impressive 23% strike rate but that increases to 27% at Taunton. He has plenty of good chances on the card, including in the opening maiden hurdle with Outlaw Peter. Nicholls has won three of the last ten runnings of this maiden hurdle and is bidding to enhance his good record with the unexposed Outlaw Peter, who returned lame when fourth in a warm event on his hurdling debut at Exeter and then faced a very difficult task up against Constitution Hill at Sandown. This bumper winner remains capable of better.
Smart Stat: 31% - Ryan Moore's strike rate at Lingfield
Ryan Moore has an incredible 31% strike rate at Lingfield - he tends to operate around the 18% mark - so his presence in the saddle looks like a positive for the rapidly improving Umm Hurair. She rattled off a quick-fire hat-trick at Wolverhampton last month and, while this is more competitive, she remains open to further improvement and has strong credentials.
Smart Stat: 21% - Adam Kirby's strike rate at Wolverhampton
Adam Kirby's 21% strike rate at Wolverhampton is significantly better than his record elsewhere, which is around the 15% mark, and he will be hopeful of another winner with Old Port. Old Port justified good support on his handicap debut here a couple of weeks ago, winning despite not looking like the finished article. He is entitled to carry on improving and should appreciate this slight step up in trip.
