Smart Stat: £45.50 - James Given's profit with horses running in first time headgear since the start of the 2013 season
The ground is going to be testing at Windsor this afternoon and, though G Eye Joe hasn’t any form on heavy ground, he at least stays further than five furlongs (best form at seven furlongs). He more or less sets the standard in this line-up on what he has shown so far, and given James Given’s record with his horses running in first-time headgear, he is worth chancing in an open heat.
Smart Stat: 21% - William Buick's strike rate at WINDSOR since the start of the 2013 season
This looks a potentially useful three-year-old contest, with Dante/Derby entry Sevenna Star a very interesting runner, but preference is for the Mark Johnston-trained King’s Proctor. He won a mile maiden at Nottingham on his final start, still looking green but finding plenty for pressure once getting organised. The ground is a question mark for most of these, but King’s Proctor is bred to improve for middle distances this season, and is looks the one to be with at the prices.
Smart Stat: £8.95 - Clive Cox's profit with horses running after a break since the start of the 2013 season
There are several potential improves here, but Icart Point makes the most appeal for Clive Cox. He showed enough in a trio of runs last season, not knocked about on his final start at Kempton. Icart Point will stay further than a mile this season, but this trip should be fine on his return in heavy ground; an opening mark of 69 could well underestimate him and he strikes as the type that could rack up a sequence.
