Broad Appeal was below form in a couple of runs on turf during the summer, but he's been given a good break since and his overall profile suggests that fresh might be the best time to catch him. He ran creditably on his only previous run this year when returning from seven months off at Lingfield in April and his last success in June 2020 came when he was reappearing after even longer on the sidelines. He is now 6 lb lower in the weights than he was then and could be worth a chance to end his long losing run.

Azure Angel - 15:45 Kempton

Azure Angel stepped up on her debut form to get off the mark at Newcastle last month, hitting the front over a furlong out and showing a good attitude from there to hold on, ultimately winning by a head. She is very much the type to go on improving and this looks a thin contest in which she should be capable of defying a penalty for Roger Varian, who has enjoyed plenty of success at Kempton in recent years.

Shining Al Danah - 19:25 Wolverhampton

Smart Stat: 16% - John & Thady Gosden's strike rate with handicap debutants

Shining Al Danah was sent off at prohibitive odds for a novice event at Newcastle last time and duly obliged with the minimum of fuss, making all to land the spoils by half a length in comfortable fashion. She now makes the switch to handicaps and remains very much one to be interested in for her powerful connections. After all, an opening BHA mark of 83 already looks fair judged on the balance of her form and it's highly unlikely that we've seen the best of her yet, either.
