Smart Stat: 23% - Brian Ellison's strike rate at Sedgefield since the start of the 2011/12 season
Brian Ellison has a good strike-rate at this track and Instant Replay looks a good bet in this novices' chase, having ran respectably on his handicap debut over hurdles here last time. He's been dropped a couple of lb in the weights for that and may well make a jolt of improvement now tackling fences for the first time given his background (bought for £90,000 out of the Irish pointing sphere).
Smart Stat: £55.83 - Philip Kirby's profit when having only one runner on the card (hurdles) since the start of the 2011/12 season
Nicely Indeed's recent form figures aren't particularly inspiring, but he has had excuses for his last two outings (both at Wetherby), hitting the last hard when fifth there in November and then not staying the extended two and a half miles last time. He did settle better last time in a first-time hood (kept on here), however, and could be worth chancing at big odds now back in trip on what is just his third start in a handicap.
Smart Stat: 37% - Joe Fanning's strike rate on favourites since the start of the 2013 season
The British Lion has a speedy pedigree (related to the same owner's The Last Lion, a Group 1 winning sprinter) and has shaped as though seven furlongs has stretched his stamina on the last two occasions, so is well worth another chance now back in trip and back over the same C&D as his best run in maiden company (finished third despite meeting interference).
