Smart Stat: £62.83 - Donald McCain's profit to a £1 level stake when having one runner at a Flat meeting
Donald McCain posts a healthy level-stake profit when sending only one runner to a Flat meeting and his representative at Wolverhampton is Nacho. Nacho has been running well over course and distance of late, scoring here on her penultimate start and then finishing a creditable fourth under a penalty four days ago. He should give another good account.
Smart Stat: 5 - Donald McCain's number of winners in the past ten runnings
Donald McCain has won the last three runnings of this novice hurdle and five of the last ten, so his runners are always worth noting. His best chance in this year's race is with Ibbenburen, who ran to a fair level when runner-up on his debut at Stratford a few weeks ago. He should go close here if building on that promising effort.
Smart Stat: 30% - William Buick's strike rate at Goodwood
There are few, if any, jockeys riding better than William Buick at the moment and he has been among the winners at Goodwood this week. A treble yesterday took his strike rate at the course to an impressive 30% and he will be hoping to enhance that in the valuable Goodwood Mile with Path of Thunder. Path of Thunder took a big step forward when successful at Newmarket and he looks well treated under a 3 lb penalty. He also has a good draw in stall 3, which will make life easier for Buick.
