Smart Stat: 15% - John & Thady Gosden's strike rate with handicap debutants 

This looks an interesting handicap but Unforgotten is potentially way better than an opening mark of 86 and looks very interesting on return from a 21-month absence. He has clearly had his problems but he has some very strong form in the book and it perhaps says plenty that top connections are persevering with him. A wide draw isn't ideal but this lightly-raced five-year-old is a most intriguing runner.

News At Ten showed plenty in a couple of starts last year in races which have worked out well and he shaped much better than the bare result on his return from seven months off over this course and distance three weeks ago. He would have likely gone very close to winning with a clear passage, still going well when denied a run two furlongs out before running on late. There should be even more to come from him now and he is well up to winning a race of this nature. 

Stallone - 19:15 Newcastle

Smart Stat: £57.23 - Michael Dods's profit to a £1 level stake when having one runner at a Flat meeting

Stallone hasn't won for over three years, so there are risks attached with him, but he continues to lurk on a dangerous mark and this course suits him well. He has shaped well on his last two starts at Southwell, well suited by a strongly-run race on his latest start, and this contest has the potential to be run in similar fashion. The stiffer finish at this track is in his favour and he will continue to be of interest at this level.
