Smart Stat: 2 - Richard Hannon's number of winners in past 10 runnings
Richard Hannon has a good record in the Woodcote Stakes and of his two runners in this year's renewal it is Haatem who makes plenty of appeal. He produced a promising first effort when third over five furlongs at Goodwood last month and he proved much sharper for that experience when scoring by six lengths at Bath 16 days ago, looking better the further he went over a slightly longer trip. The step up to six furlongs should bring about even more improvement and he looks a big player.
Smart Stat: 20% - George Boughey's strike rate with horses running over 10f+
Cadillac had some very smart form for Jessica Harrington, a Group 2 winner as a juvenile and also successful in Group 3 company as a three-year-old. He hasn't quite been at that level in three starts for George Boughey, though he still hit the frame in listed and pattern company towards the end of last season. He was gelded afterwards and, while he was disappointing on his return and belated handicap debut at Newmarket last month, he is entitled to come on for that effort, and he goes in first-time cheekpieces now for a yard that know the time of day.
Smart Stat: 17% - Andrew Balding's strike rate with handicap debutants
Clochette was well backed and arguably unlucky not to win on her debut at Newbury last season, meeting trouble in-running as the winner was pressing on, and she showed the benefit of that experience when landing the odds at Ascot in July. She didn't appear to relish the step up in trip on her return in listed company at York last month, but she wasn't beaten that far, and she looks interesting now moving back in trip on her handicap debut, especially for a yard that has a good strike rate with such types.
