Smart Stat: £11.19 - George Boughey's profit to a £1 level stake when having one runner at a Flat meeting
George Boughey has made an excellent start to the turf season, and Dirty Rascal has made an excellent start for the yard, building on his promising display at Doncaster last month to win his last two starts. He proved better than ever on his latest start at Leicester, produced to lead entering the final furlong and easily stretching clear of his rivals to win by five lengths. This is a better race, but Dirty Rascal is clearly thriving, and commands respect under a double penalty.
Smart Stat: 2 - Richard Hannon's number of winners in past 9 runnings
Richard Hannon has a good record in this race and amongst his three runners it is Dingle who has the most compelling claims. He improved with each start last season, opening his account in good style on nursery debut at Wolverhampton in September. He is worth marking up for that win, too, coming from off the pace in a small field in a race that wasn't run at a searching gallop. There is plenty about him physically, so he could well prove even better this year, and a subsequent 4 lb rise looks more than fair.
Smart Stat: 61 - The number of SEA THE STARS (IRE)'s progeny that have won on Flat debut
Sea Karats cost 500,000 guineas as a yearling and makes plenty of appeal on pedigree. She represents connections that have had plenty of success together, and William Haggas has made a flying start to the turf season. It is encouraging that she has been very strong in the market this morning, and looks very interesting in a maiden where the ones with experience don't set an exacting standard.
