This is a competitive handicap, but there is plenty to like about the chances of Aarons Day, who shaped remarkably well on his return from 11 months off when runner-up over course and distance last time. A farcical start resulted in him losing many lengths at the start through no fault of his own, so he deserves huge credit for finishing as close as he did, going through the race as though ahead of his mark. There should be more improvement in him, so with conditions in his favour, and for a yard in form, he has to be high on the shortlist.
