Brentford Hope is a smart, strong-travelling middle-distance performer on the Flat, and he shaped with plenty of promise on his debut in this sphere at Ludlow last month. He travelled with plenty of exuberance but conceded first run to a stronger stayer and was looked after once his chance had gone. Brentford Hope remains with plenty of potential as a hurdler and will prove hard to beat with normal improvement.

Beelzebub cost 110,000 guineas as a yearling and he showed ability on his debut in heavy ground at Newbury in October, looking in need of the experience but making good late headway without being knocked about. He built on that promise when finishing third to a couple of promising types on all-weather debut at Lingfield last month, still showing signs of greenness and leaving the impression he was the best long-term prospect. He is quite a scopey sort who will go on progressing for a while yet, so looks a big player.
